Here is our group statement to the MPs who scrutinise the DWP, for their inquiry into the assessment of disability benefits. The last time they did this was in 2017-2018.

We want to share it now as we have been supporting bereaved relatives interviewed in last night’s Channel 4 Dispatches: Truth about disability benefits. The terrible events told are similar to how sick and disabled claimants are still treated, including women and girls who have come to us for support and help. We wanted to bring our experiences to the MPs’ Committee. Many have escaped a tragedy, winning benefit rights with our collective self-help, casework and peer support, but still went through an ordeal.

Individual claimants can still contribute your experiences to the Committee here, until mid-February 2022.
