Today I’m ashamed to admit that I live in the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland. A country who’s government has plunged new depths of inhumanity.
Irene Clenell is a Singapore national married to a British man. They’ve been married for 30 years, have children & grandchildren. Irene has made Britain her home & contributed to this country. However, she had never gained British citizenship.
Today she was deported to Singapore. Her crime? Going back a few years ago to look after her aging & ill parents. Oh & having a husband who doesn’t earn £18,500 the government’s minimum for allowing foreign spouses to reside in the UK. She was deported on a Sunday so she was unable to contact her lawyer, quite a common practice by the Home Office apparently. She was deported with £12 in her pocket, no clothes apart from what she was wearing, nowhere…
